I love the MESS that is Wuthering Heights -- terrible people doing terrible things to each other... just pure chaotic, toxic drama. This remix of it was true enough to the original in tone, but had such pleasant changes made to the story. I really really enjoyed this version of the story and my GOD Tasha Suri's beautiful writing was perfect for this dark, gothic, eerie, lush story.

One of the best retellings of Wuthering Heights I've ever read. Tasha Suri  writes beautifully and lyrically, with prose that is gorgeous and simple.

Healthcliff and Cathy are both broken and deeply flawed, but they also love each other very much and care for the people around them. I don't know if I'd call them lovable. But that's ok, because characters don't have to be lovable. They are sometimes likable, sometimes callous, and impulsive, and act their age, and that made this story more believable to me.

Heathcliff's new found friends are wonderful, and I love seeing him grow from someone scared and angry, to a braver, fairer and more unselfish person.

Mrs Hussain is one of my favourite characters, I like her no nonsense, practical manner, and how she is kind and sensible.

All the characters are realistic - they have their good and bad moments where they are sometimes kind, and sometimes not.

I think this is a retelling I not also wanted but also needed. It's wonderful seeing BIPOC characters find happiness and help each other in a harsh world. This story is told so naturally, with emotion, sincerity, and intensity.

Seeing Cathy and Heathcliff learn about their Indian heritage is also deeply touching and witnessing Hindley's self hatred and racism is heartbreaking.
I'm also proud of Heathcliff when he decided to use his skills in reading and writing to help other BIPOC people living in poverty.

Tasha Suri writes with wisdom and nuance that adds more depth and dimension to Wuthering Heights.

I usually don’t like classics, I was forced to read them growing up.

That being said, Tasha Suri did a wonderful job with this remix of wurthering heights. My favorite part was the relationship of Catherine and Heathcliff. How they are a part of each other in every way. I also loved that under the dust jacket there was a feather and that is a very important part of the story. Finding little Easter eggs like that on books is one of life’s little joys.

Suri reclaimed this classic for her own. The writing was beautiful. The way she told the story through trauma , ghosts of our past and making our own way in the world was so unique.
