I flew through this book, much like the last one. my fear with books like this with sequential installments following a different pair of characters in the same universe is always that they will feel the same or get old quickly. this was absolutely not the case here.

I adore Laurel and Thorne. take the grumpy x sunshine trope and add fated mates and a sprinkle of girl boss × tough guy — you will get this couple. despite how quickly they come to terms with each other and their bond, it didn't feel rushed at all. I think the things they went through helped build up their relationship to make the fated mates bit seem that much more right for them.

Just perfect!

I can't express how much I LOVE this series... I wish it would never end!

An adult fantasy novel with an amazing story and its got some spice! This series truly ticks all the boxes. The cherry on top is the world building, set in an apocalyptic world. It truly gets you thinking about today's global pandemic and environmental concerns. Lana Pecherczyk is an artist and is deserving of praise!!

I look forward to reading the next book in the series and discovering more of LP's work. Highly recommended!!

Did I enjoy this book? Yes!

Why? Because, Fae, shifter, enemies to lovers, fated mates, grumpy & possessive MMC, feisty FMC, claiming..swoon, GLADIATORS!

And now I realize I've just exposed way too much about myself. Meh. Kinks for days.

Is it spicy? Mildly (relatively speaking)
Is it smutty smut smut? Def not

This is book #2 and you are following Rush's son, Thorne, as he navigates a foretold mating to a human icicle, while also trying to find his missing friend, and oh yeah dealing with all his daddy issues.

Laurel is a strong alpha female from a distant time, but I found her to be pretty level headed. I may be a bit bias considering how much I related to her.

Definitely read the first one, and if it's been a minute like it was for me since reading the first, don't worry - everything will be nicely recapped before chapter 3.

Enjoy!

Acotar vibes

If you like ACOTAR you will like this series. If you like wounded possessive wolf shifters you will love this book.

Definitely as good as book 1, if not better!

Thorne has had a really rough life, and that has shaped him into a very angry and gruff wolf-shifter and Guardian. While on a mission to find his missing mentor, Throne is suddenly and unexpectedly matted to a human. Laurel’s past may seem like she had everything she could want, but not everything is as sunny as it seemed. When an evil from Laurel’s past comes back to haunt them, will Laurel’s desire for revenge overcome them both or will Thorne help her move forward?

This is a post-apocalyptic dystopian world with a fantasy twist, a combination of two of my favorite genres. The world that Lana has created is so detailed and I absolutely love all the characters.

I cannot say enough amazing things about this story & you need to start this series if you haven’t already!
