I liked the first book more but just because, no matter what, I am not a fan of Thorne. Can't wait to read the sequel tho.

I’m sure the author uses metals and plastic in their life and harping about it in fantasy/romance novel is tedious and annoying.

I previously read The Longing of Lone Wolves with it realizing that this series gives The Witcher vibes (mostly the white blonde hair and orange eyes and the guardians ish. It’s not blatant, it’a just *vibes*). It took rewatching The Witcher to realize this series has the same vibes. I really like that.
I didn’t really like Thorne in this. LOVED Laurel but couldn’t stand the Thorne pity party or the massive chip in his shoulder. Laurel was a power house (as one is when you’re a boss bitch who runs an empire) and she thrives in this new world. She knows what she want and works to get it.
I did like to see that Thorne was willing to listen to Laurel and change his ways of thinking despite being a stubborn alpha male. This was a definite grumpy sunshine pairing and I love those. Since Thorne was a bit annoying I deducted a star but I will continue the series and I can’t wait to read Jasper’s book.
