A lot of practices are introduced, detailed instructions, and valuable reflections. One reads the book and then spends the next three years on the homework. The exercises build on each other in an intuitively obvious way. Very laid back, approachable attitude--very easy to follow. A GREAT background story behind all that he does. Worth checking out if you have any interest in the field. Or love Pearl Jam.

Interesting, informative, very detailed, and with a solid structure. Definitely a book that helps develop skills beyond the physical realm, although I would have preferred the author to share a bibliography, references, or recommended reading at the end of the book. For that alone, I'm not giving it five stars. However, it's one of the books that I will recommend to others if they don't know where to start.

I reflect on and still use this book to study with everyday, and it’s the book that got me back into reading in my thirties. Very powerful book, by an incredibly stong man.

Really good beginner’s book to Western esoteric ceremonial magick. This was the most accessible intro to a spiritual practice known for its strict gatekeeping. Inspiring & down to earth audiobook narration by author.

Echols's story is what drew me to this book and it did not disappoint. This book teaches fundamental techniques of ceremonial magic and like with all books in this genre need to be worked to get the full benefit. Unfortunately no bibliography and some factual inaccuracies based on generalizations. But recommended as a starting point.
