A must read—for white people.
I read this and did the journal prompts and uncovered some of my uncomfortable truths and experiences. I appreciate the work that I did through this book and the reflection and action required from my own self going forward.

This is not a leisure read. You do need to put in time and thought as you work through this book. I expect I will revisit it again. As a white liberal I have generally thought of myself as a good ally but I have a lot of work to do and I appreciate that this book exists as a starting point and reference.

It all started on instagram with a 28 day challenge using the hashtag #meandwhitesupremacy. Layla F. Saad started the instagram challenge and has now published the challenge as a book. This book has a chapter for each day of the challenge where she discusses the topic at hand, gives examples of it and also gives reflective journaling prompts. The intention is for the reader to keep a journal as they read to uncover their own biases, experiences and areas for improvement. This is not a book targeted at making society as whole better or taking down institutional racism, rather the book focuses on making the reader as an individual learn more about and challenge themselves.
