Cogent arguments with solid appeal to Scripture, philosophy, and Church history. The book was a bit difficult at times, simply for the philosophical writing. Although, Weinandy exposes well some of the shallowness of certain 20th-century theologians, it would have been nice to see some more thorough exegetical discussion of particular OT passages. While some of the concepts are rather lofty, they are all made practical by the end. The book is written from a Roman perspective, but there isn't very much here that was objectionable to Protestantism.

A fantastic exploration of the notion of God as a theological entity, with a particular emphasis on the incarnation as an explanation for the suffering of God, in spite of the transcendental barrier He seems to have to suffering.

Although very slow in some parts, with an extensive focus on the thoughts of other historical scholars as a critical explanation of his own thoughts, this pace was necessary for clarity to be upheld throughout.

A great read, although quite heavy in some places in terms of mental strain through an attempt to understand some quite complex notions.
