Read this for a module in university. I enjoyed the character of the narrator, an opinionated and sassy girl. Asian families are relatable everywhere. I liked how certain family members were not given redemption arcs but was expecting more from the uncle. The story was kind of predictable with all the foreshadowing, but is logical and realistic. I don't know how I feel about the book's solution to racism being to be the bigger person. A friend pointed out how so many women's trauma is sexual assault and how this book is no different. I agree that it could definitely have been something else and carried the same message. Overall, I still enjoy the story.
