“When something dies, it’s my mind.
When something soars, my mind.
When something is trembling, screaming,
or trying to jump in a river,
my mind.”

I devoured Racing Hummingbirds and was so excited to read her newest work. I missed her style and her unapologetic honesty and the way that poetry lets things be said that can't be said in other mediums. Many of the works in this collection are about miscarriage and struggling with not having children which is not something I can personally relate to but I am still honored to have been allowed into this space to experience her words. I was able to relate to some of her other pieces and you don't always have to relate to something to see its truth and beauty and pain and need.

I preferred Racing Hummingbirds, but am fond of a few poems in this, especially “The Voices”.

There were two poems that really stood out to me and really hit something in me. I just don’t think I’m the audience for this and that is okay!

It's been a while since reading a book has made me want to write again. This book did exactly that.

I much preferred and would recommend her compilation "Racing Hummingbirds" over this one.
