I never write reviews but feel compelled to leave one in this instance. There were absolutely no content warnings for the dark twists in the novel- and the way they were described in such detail actually left me feeling uncomfortable. I continued to read just to see where the author was going with it all, but towards the end it all just seemed crazy and far fetched, and I finished the book feeling disturbed by the whole experience of reading it.
I get it’s a thriller but the topic here just felt weirdly too detailed. Don’t want to spoil it so am being vague but
If you were considering reading this book I would highly recommend you read a bit more of the reviews first…

I really wasn’t sure how to rate this book. On one hand, it started out very intriguing, and you want to keep on reading to find out why the protagonists are hiding. On the other hand, this book deals with a very sensitive topic. If I had known the direction it was heading, I probably never would have read it. But, I will say that she is a good writer and does keep your interest. Due to this, I will probably seek out another of her books.

I read this book with a group of readers in an online book club I belong to. Reading the blurb I was immediately drawn into this book. It started out well and I was gripped . But after about half way through the book it took a different turn and not in a good way in fact in quite a horrific way. I also had an issue with the author constantly referring to the characters skin colour which I didn’t think was relevant. 2.5⭐️
