The Phoebe and her unicorn books are so delightful. I love them. I'm not a kiddo, so I have no idea how much kids enjoy them, but they're rediculousely charming and great if you're just looking for something fluffy and humorous to relax with. They also often tackle big topics in non-controversial ways, like expecting that if one person acts a certain way, everyone like them acts similarly.

Dana Simpson is STILL coming up with completely new story ideas, jokes, and one-liners for these characters. We're thirteen books in, and this one is phenomenal.

Solid installment to the Phoebe and her Unicorn series. I love that these comics are full of observations and life lessons without feeling preachy at all. Plus there’s a glossary at the end (Is that a new thing? It’s been a while since I’ve read one of this series) is good for helping kids expand their vocabulary.

Yes, this series is great for kids. But it's great for other people too. Everyone in our house -- that's two teens and two middle-aged adults -- loves it. This book is as good as all the others; I laughed out loud again and again while reading it. In a typical four-panel spread, three panels advance the plot, talk about the interpersonal problems of grade school life, or give background info on unicorn society. And then that fourth panel just kills me -- making me snort or burst into laughter more often than not, and nearly always carrying a clever surprise. This volume will be joining all the others on our bookshelf -- though to be honest it will be found in the kids' rooms an awful lot of the time. Or on the floor. Or the sofa. Or in the bathroom. Because it's going to be read and enjoyed everywhere in the house.

I thank the universe that I live in a world where the Phoebe and her Unicorn series exists. Whenever life is too rough I escape into the world of Marigold Heavenly Nostrils and all is right for a while. This book was no exception.

Another fabulous book from Dana Simpson. Though the stories show the life of a grade schooler, she doesn't talk down to them and even includes a glossary in every book because her vocabulary might be above their reading level.
Phoebe and Marigold are back again talking about unicorn fashion and going to the goblin awards as well as a water park. We learn more about unicorn lore including what unicorns used to think about thunder and a story about caring what others think.
One of my favorite storylines is the relationship between Phoebe and her frenemy Dakota. I'm loving seeing how they went from mean girl and the person she bullied to both of them slowly growing.
