The problem with books like this is that they're narrated with such confidence that it's impossible to tell what is entirely fiction. Clearly Crichton has an impressive grasp of research adjacent to this story and much of it is grounded in real circumstances and then the rest of it is guerilla gorillas (this wordplay coincidence must have been the inspiration of the whole book) and the line between is shockingly blurred. More legitimately disappointing is the lack of consequence, the desire to have the story plausibly exist in our world, denying any results or effects towards events beyond the pages.
But for all that it is a very quick and entertaining read with masterful worldbuilding, engaging but ultimately pretty surface level character work, dry but evocative action, and enough falsified footnotes to intrigue an English master. Looking forward to reading more Crichton.

I absolutely loved reading this book. The crossover between fact and fiction make this a very intriguing read. I can't wait to read another book by this author! :)
