Is it really my first book of 2023 when I read 80% of it during the last week of 2022? Eh, I'll go with it.

It is a reach for this to be branded as a horror book. A thriller? Yes! But how is something a creature feature when the creature is hardly...featured? You could cut out all the parts with the monster in it and still have a coherent thriller. And I think there was a huge missed opportunity to go into the lore of the creature, making it the horror that it desperately wanted to be

Oh, this was PERFECT to read on a snowy day. Ookie spookie and mysterious. Although some characters did not realistically react to certain scenarios. Somebodies

arm legit gets ripped off

and does not NEARLY have an appropriate reaction. Overall, great thriller!

I loved the first half of the book. It was a very uncomfortable and tough read but it gave the book a sense of direction. I found the second half of the book gave a stall to the momentum it had built up. The ending left me wanting more. There were a lot of questions left abandoned in the end. I also found the way the creature moved and acted to be very cartoonish.
