Truely no words are there to describe this book. Hooked from first page to the end.

I did not enjoy this book as much as many of my friends even though I flew through it.

I'm finding reviewing it tricky.   I think the book is probably genre-defying, but not in a way I found engaging, and very much at odds to how it is pitched.  There is too much grief for it to be a fun, sexy romance, but too much sexy romance and not enough depth for it to be a tale about clinging to life.

The second half feels a lot like a classical tragedy, but it has a happy ending (definitely by romance standards).

I tried reading this book a while ago but had to DNF because it was kind of triggering. However, I think that's mostly because the book was so real (for lack of better words). The messiness of grief as a concept and, especially, how it impacts relationships was very well done. It felt very honest and raw.

The portrayal of the characters dealing with grief was messy but in a good way. It made the characters feel realistic, easy to love, and connect to. Each character was well developed with their own personalities, development, and conflicts. None of the progress felt rushed and managed to make everything feel realistic.

The book balanced the romance and healing process very well. I don't think one ever overpowered the other, but rather that they built off of each other.

One the downside, there were certain parts that I felt dragged. I listened to the audiobook and found myself having to rewind a few times because it wasn't always super engaging. That being said, these parts were very rare (maybe 2 or 3 sections?).

Overall, a book I would still recommend with the caveat of reading trigger warnings.

This was spiky and fun to read, with the depictions of life after grief thudding around my chest in a satisfying way. It did get a little slow after
Alim and Feyi start to hook up and things get super serious and not all that fun anymore. That felt realistic enough, but definitely not the most interesting, action packed or spicy.

A gorgeous, steamy, messy, emotional read about love and grief. I loved Feyi’s character, how she’s so straightforward and to the point with everyone she talks to and how she uses her grief to power her art, and I really felt for her with everything that happens/has happened to her in the story. I do wish we got to see more of Joy and had her character be a little more fleshed out, but I understand that’s hard to do when she’s on Facetime for most of the book.
