Whelp this had about every trope under the sun lmao
Cinnamon rolls MMC, cumulation (don't ask), knotting, a/b/o with switch alpha and omega which was the funnest trope - so sick of Dom alphas lmao.

I really enjoyed this book and was surprised at the twist. While it is the typical soulmate, instant love romance it was still cute. The spice was great for beginning monster romance readers. Would definitely continue to read this authors work!

This was my first monster romance and it was good. For the most part, I had fun! I liked the characters and the plot, although it took me a while to get into the whole monster aspect of it all. I'm still not entirely settled with it so I might give this genre a break for a while. I'm just not sure if it's for me but I did try and I'm happy I tried with this author because the story was executed nicely and in a way that didn't make me cringe. Seriously, these days I'm not a fan of love scenes (especially if they're excessive) but I got through the ones in this book without skipping or begging for it to be over. Then again there were things I was reading about for the first time so it felt like a learning experience more than anything lol.
I liked the pace of the story but some moments were too quick that we didn't get as much out of scenes that were deserved, like the climax scene toward the end. I understand things were hectic but it could've been done better so the scene itself didn't feel snappy and rushed, especially with the important character lore that came with it. Also, I wished we'd gotten more of Fern's ex because he felt more like a hollow plot point/random antagonist there to add to the story progression. There was no genuine connection there so when he started acting up it always felt like throw-away moments and it was hard to believe he could even be real. Also, the fake dating fell flat and hard. I didn't even remember there was fake dating until the characters themselves brought it up and it wasn't brought up a lot. The first time Fern said it out loud I actually did a double-take. The trope wasn't even necessary at that point (this is coming from the biggest lover of fake dating), they were TOGETHER.
Overall, this was a pretty quick, entertaining read and I'd recommend it to anyone in a reading slump who's into this

I loved this!! A great, fall monster romance with a lovable MMC, a plus size FMC, fantastic friends who I canβt wait to read spinoffs for, and switch representation. Canβt wait for more!!!
