I enjoyed this book. First time I have read this author. A nice story with an HEA will definitely read another book.
I'm always willing to curl up with a steamy escapist romance novel. But this is not one of them. It is vapid and corny and not that well-written.
An OK story, but nothing to write home about.
It was a kindle freebie however and a quick read, so no real ground for complaints.

Meh. This book was okay, for a self-published romance novel, but I tend to have higher standards for my romances and this didn't really live up to them.
For one, this novel lacked so much emotional depth between the characters. The climax of the story, when Jade and Lucas finally put their feelings on the line, was seriously half a page long. It was, "Hey, I'm sorry." "I'm sorry, too." "Let's have sex now." "Okay." LIKE WHAT!? No. There needs to be a discussion here, a meeting of minds.
And a lot of the novel felt super unrealistic. For example, after 30 years of a man refusing to acknowledge his biological son, said son is not suddenly going to start calling him "Dad" after they realize everything was a huge misunderstanding. That's not going to happen.
I also laughed at the warning that "this book contains hot sexual scenes" because eh, they were pretty tame for a romance novel. Read a book by Jaci Burton or Victoria Dahl and then get back to me about "hot sexual scenes."

How great is it to stumble into a book that absolutely rocks you? That's what this book was for me. Found by accident and enjoyed on purpose. Both Jade and Lucas were likeable characters that anyone would enjoy. Jade had a big heart and despite a couple of disappointing relationships, she was willing to try again with love. Lucas had a hard life, filled with hate over the rejection of his father. But with Jade's help, those wounds heal and the breach between a hurt father and son is closed when misunderstandings and reception are revealed.
This was a delightfully light read. No angst or drama. I thought it was great how the author was able to describe Lucas's emotions, especially his tears, without turning him into a wuss of some sort. It just made him that much more endearing.
Rick and Lexie's story is next and it seems really good from the preview! Hope to see more of Jade and Lucas in there as well!!

I read this book based purely on the cover. There I said it. Before I had even read the blurb I was already interested; half dressed hunk in a suit holding up open heart. Oh this could be interesting. Now that I have finished, yes the cover does relate to the story.
I love stories set in my own backyard. I can just relate to them more. I have a personal connection to them; they hold a special place in my heart. The unwilling executive is no exception.
I was actually more surprised that this wasn't the PA falling for her new boss, which based on the title was my guess for the story line. I like little surprises, it keeps me reading on.
Lucas, the unwilling executive and Mr FK (read the book to find out more) isn't afraid to get his hands dirty and in facts fixes cars and doesn't seem to settling down anytime soon. Enter Jade and soon Lucas is reevaluating everything he thought he knew about love. But neither of them make it easy for the other and mixed messages were often getting in the way of the couple getting together.
The dual POV was a good way to see how each of the character were dealing with the situations, but at times I felt it was a little confusing as to which character was thinking what.
Besides that it was an enjoyable read and I will be waiting for the next one in the series.

2.5 stars.
Honestly, this would have been a DNF, but I wanted to see if I was right in how everything played out. It was incredibly predictable, and I wasn't invested in the characters. It's not to say the writing was bad, technically it was very good, and well edited, but it just seemed superficial. Its probably just me, it just didn't click for me.

I seem to be in the minority as I would actually like to give it only 2,5 stars. Started out pleasantly enough but after a while started to remind me of a Harlequin novel of the 80s and 90s. The writing is good but it just dragged on and on. The hero dumps the heroine after a misunderstanding and after that spends chapters and chapters trying to talk to her. Cries a few times as well. Awww.
She is the lovely PA without much experience and he is the Fuck King (really??!!) who falls for her. Not alpha at all, just a guy trying to speak to his girl to explain...... Awwwww
Enough said.
