I love the cover. I loved reading it. I loved the urban fantasy setting. But somehow it just didn't live up to all the hype for me. I wanted so badly to love the characters, but they just weren't developed at all. The villain wasn't particularly villainous, the hero not very heroic and most decisions the characters made seemed completely random. I'm going to finish the series sometime, but I'm more excited to start her victorian steampunk storyline and hoping I can connect with those characters.

i watched a yt video the other day that retold the entire first three books and i completely forgot everything that ever happened in these books. but as soon as i finished that i
needed to read them for myself and honestly i’m kinda glad i did, feel like i’m 13 again getting back into this world oh it’s sO GOOD! def has some cons but if you should push through that and just laugh it’s so fun. i’m excited to finally finish this series. simon is the BEST character and deserved so much better than what was thrown at him!

This shadowhunter world that Cassandra Clare has created is a wonderful and unique story that I have not read before. It is not your average dystopian society. It is a dystopian society that mundanes do not know of. Every creature is apart of the conflict though. Angels, demons, werewolfs, faeries, vampires, shadowhunters and the list goes. Don't you dare tell me this is another twilight story because You will be sorry. This is actually a story that involves a wonderful plotline and there is no stupid love triangle. And also, don't tell me Simon-Clary-Jace is a triangle because 1) Everone has to predict who she will eventually end up with and 2) I love simon but if anyone ships him and clary as more than besties then you are what Jace says, a stupid mundane.

Well written book and it did manage to make me laugh quite a lot. I didn't really connect with the world/characters though and I thought that the sibling reveal in the end ruined the mood.

Last book of 2023!
