This book was funny, snarky, and filled with truth.  I found myself actually sighing, grunting with frustration, and giggling outloud.

The entire story is through the perspective of Luc (ho has a very entertaining internal monologue btw). He is the e list child of c list celebrity musicians from the 80s. Only famous enough for the paparazzi to make his life hell. He needs a boyfriend and along comes Oliver. Uptight, a tad bit controlled... and absolutely adorable.

They are both broken in their own ways. The perfect juxtaposition. I'll definibe recommending this one, and I'm so glad it was gifted to me!

This is a book about two very damaged people finding themselves in a toxic relationship. There’s also a lot of side characters who are inexplicably idiots for no real reason, although that might just be me not enjoying this book’s particular brand of humor.

There’s a lot of overt homophobia and body shaming that’s condemned by the narrative. There’s also homophobia, biphobia, and body shaming that ISNT criticized by the narrative.

There’s a lot of really awful parents in this book too. There’s no moment of catharsis in dealing with them either. They’re just shitty. That’s very accurate to the real world, but not at all what I was expecting in this gay YA-ish romcom.

The side characters ranged from bizzare to awful. I started out really liking Bridget, but couldn’t stand how she behaved in the ending.

This book was recommended to me based on my love for the Bridget Jones movies and they were 100% right and I love this book to pieces. I can’t really say too much about this book except gush about the characters, the love story and the fun I had with it.
Luc was fun, relatable and a overall great protagonist. Oliver was a perfect love interest and I really related to some of the things he was struggling with. Their romance, even though it was a agreed upon fake dating scheme in the beginning, did not feel forced. It was fun and they really worked together. (A bitchy part of me always looks at the couples in romance novels and estimates how long they will stay together ... so for these two I’d like invitations to the wedding, the gold anniversary and their shared funeral in advance please!)

This audiobook was very long and boring to listen to. By the way, I hated how the narrator was making the characters' voices, especially the voices of the women characters and the french ones. I found absolutely no interest in the story and the characters were terrible (except Oliver ♡). Luc was unbearable, complaining about everything all the time, without doing anything to fix the situation. The plot isn't going anywhere. So much is left out (Luc's father, Oliver's eating disorder...) and the tropes are poorly executed. Luc and Oliver's relationship is toxic: Luc is always trying to be at the centre of everything. There is no communication, and yet Oliver is there for him but Luc does not even try to know what his "boyfriend" feels/needs. I had the feeling Luc was an 18 yo teenager obsessed by s*x and the size of his pen!s. I don't recommend it.
