I'm not much into reading mystery novels these days but I quite like this series. I think that what I really appreciate is the setting, both in terms of place and time. It is really interesting to get a glimpse into Indian society in the 1920s and see how such themes as colonialism, sexism, caste and religious differences are explored within the narration.
It is a very readable story and also quite gripping, I wanted to keep reading to find out how all the pieces would come together.
I look forward to reading the next installments and following Perveen's story.
