These short stories left me with such intense emotions, forcing me to sit and reflect at times. I read most of it in one day. My first introduction to Banana Yoshimoto and I was rather impressed. The overwhelming feeling that I get upon finishing this book though, is that I read it at the right time in my life. I think I have much to learn from Yoshimoto !

Non sono una grande fan delle raccolte di racconti (quando si comincia ad immergersi nella storia finisce tutto), ma devo dire che Banana Yoshimoto sa scriverli.
Le storie son corte, giusto qualche pagina, il tempo di regalare uno spaccato della vita dei protagonisti al lettore, e via col successivo.
La Yoshimoto scrive per immagini, fugaci ma veramente nitide; le trame sono semplici, quasi inesistenti, proprio per far concentrare il lettore sull'hic et nunc.
Le storie che mi sono piaciute di più, ed è qui che mi contraddico, sono state quelle più lunghe, Lucertola e Strana storia sulla sponda del fiume, entrambe dolcissime nel loro modo di esplorare i rapporti umani.
Leggerò sicuramente altro di quest'autrice.

Los relatos de este libro atacan la juventud y la incertidumbre que trae consigo, y lidian con la soledad y la esperanza en formas iguales. Sus personajes suelen ser personas estancadas en sus vidas, que incluso así, terminan encontrando nuevos motivos para seguir adelante. 

Me gustó mucho Lagartija. Especialmente el relato que lleva su nombre. Todos son muy ricos, sin embargo; lo suficientemente complejos para ser interesantes, pero con la sencillez necesaria para sentirse identificado con cada uno de ellos. 

No hay ninguna duda de que continuaré leyendo a la autora.
