What an ending. Inio Asano himself said that this ending is the worst ending for Punpun, since he needs to live without Aiko but I see it as more of a depressing yet neutral ending. Chapter 145, when Aiko shows up and Punpun thinks that Tanabata will always be cloudy broke me. Still, life goes on, and despite everything that has happened in Punpun’s life, he can still move forwards.

I'm done. This story was dissapointing and really had something to say in the end. Some could say that this was about the way our childhood always stays with us and has a lot of influence and what we are as people and how the cycles of abuse work, but there are so many books that actually took the time to work with those topics, while the author of Goodnigh Punpun worked on making a story based on their ideas. I did not enjoy this read and I still do not get why so many people liked it.
