Marvelous. A true tour de force

Ok, I'm officially a David Mitchell fan. He routinely entertains with a fascinating plot device, and Cloud Atlas is no exception. I hate to write more and give anything away. I will say that he has an amazing ability to bring distant worlds to life, with complicated characters, each of whom has his/her own distinct voice. Loved it!

This book is incredible. Very well put together, powerfully written, and some absolutely awe-inspiring quotes. I won't post any here so as not to spoil it, but I am very tempted.

I highly recommend this book to anyone willing to read it, and the movie isn't bad either.

Still amazing. I love this story and moving onto my second David Mitchell novel.

Rare bulshit, very rare indeed.

It's a really interesting book to read, very well written. It took me a bit to get into it as the initial perspective wasn't my favourite, but every time it changed I ended up liking it more and more. At first I read a few chapters a day, but the second half of the book I couldn't out down.
I loved this book and it will definitely stick with me.

I definitely preferred some bits to others, the initial character didn't resonate as much but I absolutely loved the middle story with the fabricant and the mystery of Luisa Rey.
It was really interesting hearing all the differenct perspectives on life in different times and places, I wish some of them overlapped a bit more though. The fabricant section was my favourite but I was hoping for more overlap with it.
I read this book over a couple of weeks and I would forget earlier references later on, I felt like I needed a guide on which stories connect where. Also I know there is meant to be reincarnation of souls between them, but I didn't follow that exactly as some of the stories have overlap and it wasn't clear who was necessarily who. It didn't stop my enjoyment of it though.
It makes rating it hard as some bits I would say are five star, but the others didn't capture me in the same way and it was a bit hard to get into so I've put 4.5 as an average for the book.
