i liked the fact they said “Zounds!” a couple times and that was kinda it
Not my favorite but it definitely had some nice plots. Basically the longest play ive ever read and it made the drama course hell
4.5
“Why this is hell, nor am I out of it”
There is something nice about someone selling their soul to the devil in order to accomplish their big plans, not believing that anything bad will happen, and then, instead of going after their OG plans, they goof around, and then are shocked when they face the consequences of their actions that I enjoy witnessing for some reason. I also really appreciate that my professor assigned this before Milton.

"What art thou, Faustus, but a man condemn'd to die?
Thy fatal time doth draw to final end;
Despair doth drive distrust into my thoughts:
Confound these passions with a quiet sleep:
Tush,
Christ did call the thief upon the Cross;
Then rest thee, Faustus, quiet in conceit."
The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus, commonly abbreviated to just Doctor Faustus, is a cautionary tale in the form of a tragic play that explores the dangers of following through with your desires with the help of toxic commitments that ultimately sabotage your life with biblical metaphors. Doctor Faustus is an intelligent scientist that one day wishes to seek ultimate knowledge and power. When he summons the demon Mephistophilis to aid him in his quest, Mephistophilis sets up a deal to make himself Doctor Faustus' servant for his soul. After making that pact with Hell, Doctor Faustus uses this new power rather ineffectively, as he was set back by conversing with others (especially Mephistophilis). He soon grows to have a disdain for the pact he made with Lucifer after realizing that God can no longer allow him to repent unless he risks demonic torture. Doctor Faustus is truly a tragedy in the sense that no power is worth sacrificing your eternal peace and happiness.
