This was very cute. I wasn't expecting it to be told from Rocks eyes and to a bunch of StarClan kits, but I liked that approach a lot. Its kind of like a shorter, different version of the Ultimate Guide, overall a nice companion book for collectors.

Nowadays, [b: Warriors: The Ultimate Guide|17331409|Warriors The Ultimate Guide|Erin Hunter|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1364224161l/17331409._SX50_.jpg|24034691] may be a better go to than this one as it's more updated and has more characters, but for someone who is still quite new to the series, this is a neat little reference guide. There isn't much information here that'd be new to a fan (I learnt two new things in the whole book) but the writing style from Rock's perspective was a refreshing change. And the art was really nice, too. I think more details and previously unheard of facts would've been nicer and make this book more worthy of a read, but it was nice to catch up with some cats from the older arcs.

This is a good companion book to the Warriors series and the series just after. It's not a huge spoiler if you only read Warriors so you can read it anyway.

This is a simple, straightforward book, but it's a nice look into the detailed personalities of some of the prominent Clan cats. The story is told by Rock, a cat outside all the Clans, and it's refreshing to hear about characters from all Clans from his point of view, as he is unbiased. Each character has a painted portrait and a blurb telling a little about their histories and personalities. My only pet peeve with the book is that a lot of the paintings of the cats are canonically incorrect -- for example, Crowfeather is shown looking kind of stocky and with amber eyes, while hunting in a tree, while he should be a Siamese-shaped cat with blue eyes, and WindClan never hunts in trees. Overall, a nice, quick read.

This was nice and simple to read. And the illustrations are gorgeous.

There are some mistakes in this book and inconsistencies with the original series... but it was still a nice short read and the pictures truly made it special.

Great, but I feel the authors left out some cats who definitely deserved recognition.
