An absolute crackerjack of a book. While I sometimes cringed at the passive voice and an occasional confusing sentence, the narrative force of the personalities and legal/political intrigue really kept me engaged (to the point where I had to stop myself from reading outside sources to not "spoil" the ending). Only law school kept me from finishing it faster.
I consider it both a pro and con that I read the unchanged first edition from the late 80s. I found it interesting to see the perspective and predictions unmuddled by the passage of time. Still, I'd really like the author's and main characters' perspectives on the break-up after thirty years. The main decision to break up appears to have been based on the "oncoming information age." Now that we're in the thick of that information age, I'd love to hear the muddled perspectives.

Excellent book. Coll brings alive a pivotal time in American history. Great book. Great writer.
