A solid 4 stars. I loved parts of this book so much, but it was a bit slow at first and then suddenly I was almost 300 pages in, how did that happen?
I love these characters. I loved the story of loss and finding things. I adore the feel of this book and the vibe. A really great book perfect for those who like magic realism.

3.5/5. This was a pretty charming story, in which the lines between reality and fantasy blur. The stakes aren't high, or perhaps they're so great that lives depend on them. I really appreciated the Irish narrators; they gave a richness to the story. The twist was decent, and I liked how all the pieces fell into place in the end.

3.5/5.... I actually really liked this book. The beginning was kind of slow and so many characters were hard to keep up with. But once it picked up, I found it a nice story with nice twists (although some predictable). It was a lovely first “fall” read and I liked the ending. Not all losses are bad.

I read this book in a day, and I simply could not put it down. This is a perfect read for anyone who is constantly on the hunt for a story which perfectly meshes plausible reality with magic, hints at mythology, and a hidden glimpse at a bigger picture hovering just out of view. The plot twists are never-ending, the romances are adorable, and the writing made me want to run outside and traipse around the nearest available forest with a motley group of friends, losses and consequences be damned. Highly recommend!

This book was so magically kooky, I adored it. If I had any qualms, I would say there wasn't much of a mystery to it as I guessed quite a far bit but I did like how things were slowly revealed.
Spoiler the second it's mentioned there is a missing boy by Laurel but Olive and Hazel don't mention one, matched with Olive's mom's comments, and I got it in an instant. I didn't see Jude being the father of three of the five though but it's like not shocking either.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about this book. I liked it more than the other books I've rated 3 stars this year, but less than the other 4 star reads. So I guess that makes this a 3.5 star read?

There's a lot of interesting aspects to this book, and I certainly like the play between the magical and reality. But I can't help but think this was a bit too long? I'll write a full review soon when I've sorted my thoughts out.
