I could not for the life of me keep these characters names straight until over midway through. And they all sounded exactly the same in the beginning. It was an okay read, lots of magic and messed up stuff going on, which was cool.

This is truly a haunting tale that I thoroughly enjoyed. It's not my typical type of book but I couldn't stop reading it about halfway through.  Definitely for the most mature teens. Very dark.

This book was so boring, it was weird and I just couldn't finish it. I tried for a month.... and I just couldn't get into it.

One of the best books I've ever read in my entire life. It's eerie and weird and amazing. The writing is astonishingly beautiful, it's like you're reading a poem. A sexy one. Because yes, this book is also very sexy but in the right way. I will definitely read it again in the future and take from it as much inspiration for my own writing. I will, for sure, read all Moira Fowley-Doyle's books after this.

++++ // Great depictions of friendships, family bonds and (LGBTQ+!) romance. Teenagers messing around with magic. A setting in the Irish countryside. A wonderful writing style that manages to convey the magical and mysterious atmosphere of it all.
- // Too many characters and too many interconnections between all of them that felt a little construed at times (even though I really liked them all, maybe less characters would've been a wiser choice and less confusing to read about, especially towards the beginning).
// If you liked Fowley-Doyle's debut The Accident Season I'm sure you're going to like this one as well. Similarly, I think that if you're a fan of The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater, you should check out this author's books, because I think they're quite similar in terms of the depiction of friendships and the overall whimsical atmosphere.

Couldn’t finish this. Reads like a wattpad fanfiction.
