Quick read, fast-paced, plot driven.

Since it’s so plot driven there wasn’t a lot of time to develop the characters to feel fully invested in their story.

This is listed as a romance but it is essentially a 0 spice rating. This you are looking for smut, look elsewhere.

Seemed to maybe be more geared towards teens? The repetitiveness in the first half of the book was frustrating. Each character’s inner dialogue kept reminding the reader of their main motivation. Give the reader some credit.

Still, the plot was interesting. A little Percy Jackson in the adventure, some Norse mythology. Interesting enough that I’ll be moving on to the next book in the series.

This book was amazing! The characters were interesting and I was generally interested in not just the dialogue but also what was going on inside their heads. I loved the blend of fantasy, real-world, and Norse mythology. It was an amazing blend that kept me intrigued. I sat down and read it in one shot and I will likely do the same with the second and then impatiently wait for the third.

I enjoyed this book. The pacing and writing are solid. The chemistry between the two characters feels like a real and tangible thing. While this story has the whole "mates" "inherently bound" thing explaining away any attraction, there does feel like a real effort to proper up the "suddenly in lust" trope. Like both parties are physically attracted to each other, both have an interest in music (and to some extent have overlapping tastes), and they have a mutual enemy. The two journey together and save each other, which is refreshing since the "prince" is set up as all powerful, it was nice to see he could stumble.

It was also great that the author distinguished between lust and love. The characters share lust and begin getting to know each other to form a more trusting relationship.

And I enjoyed the Norse mythology as the backdrop. I'm less familiar with these myths so this setting captivated and entertained me.

I think this is a really fun beach read and would recommend for light reading. It's geared more toward women, specifically teens and young adults but there's not age restriction on a fantasy flavored romance/adventure.

Easy read, simple story. Listened to the audiobook so and it was just the right combo of interesting to listen to but don’t have to think about so much. Helps that the length of the audiobook is the length of a work day. Onto book two tomorrow.

Another interesting story from CN Crawford. It was a quick read. Lots of action from beginning to end. I am looking forward to the next book

Not bad. Weird creatures, odd adventure, sort of slow burn, Def not a romance tho. Literally zero spice (or even kissing)
Ends on a cliffhanger.
A quick read, an interesting idea, I did like the traveling and squirrel dude.

1 star for a non finisher. Stopped at 69%. The writing was fine but characters weren’t developed and there was very little interaction that had any depth. Blurb talks of an immediate, simmering attraction but I must have missed that because at nearly 3 quarters of the book in the 2 main characters hadn’t even spoken to each other let alone explored any kind of attraction. Just had absolutely no desire to pick the book back up.
