Knife of Dreams by Robert Jordan

Pacing continues to be an issue. There’s too many conversations and moving around going on in knife of dreams that seems to have little to do with the plot Perrin and Faile still aren’t reunited after THREE BOOKS of the SAME plot line. Mat’s section suffers the least from this and Egwene back in the tower was interesting as well but most of the things going on with Perrin and Elayne could have been cut and the main plot wouldn’t be affected at all. Hope the next one is better as I close in on the final few books.

Really great. I don't think there was a Knife of Dreams, though . Why is this book named this?

Much better pacing than the previous few books - it feels finally like we’re getting ready for the Last Battle. All of the characters (except for Perrin) are actually having meaningful arcs, and their stories are far more engaging than I previously had felt when I was in the slog.

First re-read:

This book probably holds a very special place in the hearts of every Wheel of Time fan. This is the last book Mr. Jordan wrote before passing away and, for some reason, this fact hit me even harder than it did the first time I read the series.

Knife of Dreams is an amazing book, easily top 3 in the entire series and arguably the best overall. Thank you Mr Jordan for giving us the best fantasy series ever put to page and making us laugh and cry along with amazing characters you created.

This is from a re-read of books 10-13 before tackling the series finale. This is certainly better than the previous installment, since we've got some plot lines actually wrapping up. There are some very cool moments in here, but the book has the same problems as the other recent books in the series. Still, one of my favorite series of all time, so recommended in its entirety ;)
