Embroideries sets the scene for a gathering of Iranian women who gossip and talk about everything from mistresses and divorce to sex and surgery. I like the way it includes aunties, mothers, grandmothers, and granddaughters alike, and it definitely reinforced my belief that there are gossiping aunties in all Asian ethnicities. Although it doesn't hold the same emotional or political weight of Satrapi's other works, it is a quick and fun read that brings up interesting topics surrounding womanhood and Iranian society's expectations of women as wives and daughters.

A really great graphic novel full of stories from generations of women, told around cups of tea, each talking about different relationships, secrets, and the troubles with love.
