Such an enlightening comparison of women's experiences in Iran vs the Western world, especially relating to love, sex and marriage. The story flowed so cohesively, I really felt like I was sitting in a living room full of women on a Sunday afternoon swapping stories.

This book is way too funny, I enjoyed the stories of all the women. Alas, it was a super quick read and part of me wish there was more.

The work takes the form of a comic book/graphic novel. The plot is just a gossiping session that all of the women in the Satrapi family have. In this long discussion, the women of the Satrapi household and family discuss their personal, as well as their peers' experiences with men and marriage. Through the retelling of these stories, we not only learn about marriage and the norms and cultural practices concerning it in late 20th-century Iran, but we also learn about the personal experiences of these women and their misfortunes when marrying through their "raw" retelling of their personal experiences with different kinds of men. TLDR: Great read to learn about marriage in 20th Century Iran through funny and sad stories of the women involved in these marriages.

I love Marjane Satrapi’s writing and this was wildly delightful. I loved reading the stories about her grandmother, mother and aunts and learning more about womanhood in Iran. It felt very reminiscent of late night conversations with my grandmother, mom, aunts and cousins when we said we were leaving and then ended up sitting at the dinner table for hours exchanging stories.

...a ta půlka vesnice, která si to o mně ještě nemyslela, je přesvědčená, že jsem blázen. Kdo jiný by se taky smál v autobuse nahlas. Navíc nad takovými divnými obrázky.
