The idea of the book is interesting and in some moments I was intrigued. But! Most of the characters were absolutely dislikeable. Some of the conversations were so confusing. The magic explanation was so complicated. In the same scene you are in one place, then another and then back to the first. It took me almost a month to finish it.

Loved this book but to be honest it was incredibly hard to remember who was who. Maybe I’m just stupid but I’m buying the sequel right now so I guess that shows how much I liked it!

i really don’t know how i feel about this book
i LOVE LOVE LOVE bratty, spoiled, pretentious, magical characters as much as the next person, but these characters were so held back by a plot that kept moving in circles. i definitely grew to have an interest in these characters, and where they will go. this circular plot that was pissing me off until the VERY LAST CHAPTER, in a world that has so much potential. in the last chapter, we are then overfed crucial information breezed through in only 5 pages? hm, conflicted.
*i would like to note i was a libby truther from the start, from the second i found out she had uncontrollable bangs and liked to anxiously yap. so….
as a homosexual who decided to grow a deep attachment to the definitely homosexual small side character Gideon, i now desperately need to know what happens to this singular gay small side character, so i am forced to read the sequel now aren’t i?
