This was a recommendation from a coworker and WOW I'm very glad I read it. (Listened to it)
The story is amazing, and the characters painted so wonderfully. The timelines both moved seamlessly-- I've read books with multiple timelines that try to get little cliffhangers and make you want to stay in one timeline more than the other, but this one did a good job of weaving two stories into one. I loved the narrator as well.
I honestly think I would have loved it just as much if the fiancés had not both come back at the end, as the mother/daughter/granddaughter relationships were so beautiful. But it was heartwarming to have the extra happy ending, and didn't take away from the story at all.

This is a lovely story.  I listened to the first half on audio.   There were two narrators.  The first played Rory, a young woman, in 1985.  The second played Soline, a young French girl, in 1943 and her older counterpart in 1985.  The Rory narration was somewhat annoying, but Soline's voice was terrific.  I finished the book reading it on Kindle.  I wish I had read it all instead of listening to it.
