This is a lovely story. I listened to the first half on audio. There were two narrators. The first played Rory, a young woman, in 1985. The second played Soline, a young French girl, in 1943 and her older counterpart in 1985. The Rory narration was somewhat annoying, but Soline's voice was terrific. I finished the book reading it on Kindle. I wish I had read it all instead of listening to it.
Moderate: Gore, Injury/Injury detail, Torture, Violence, Death, Confinement, Blood, Fire/Fire injury, Forced institutionalization, Genocide, Grief, Gun violence, Abandonment, War, Antisemitism, Classism, Homophobia, Death of parent, Emotional abuse, Medical trauma, Infertility, Panic attacks/disorders, and Vomit
