This book is so good. Period. It's a beautiful story that combines a sweeping WW2 love story with finding one's place in the world and within your own family. It's so well layered with family, love, grief, grit, and celebrations. So, so good.

Absolutely beautiful writing. I don’t know of another contemporary author who writes with such attention to word choice, language, clarity. Her characters are rich and well-developed. The stories are thought provoking and deeply personal.

I devoured this book.  It was predictable and I figured out how it was going to end early on but sometimes you just want to get away from "real life" and hope for the happy ending which at times all of us are searching for.  There is a quote in the book that resonated with me as I lost my husband a few years ago that will long stay in my mind "As long as you keep his beautiful face in your heart, he will never truly be lost.  There will always be a way back."
