This is a beautiful book filled with many moments of joy. It would be a perfect way to have a conversation about the things that make us happy or the things we are thankful for in our lives. Otherwise, it's simply a warm book to share with children.

Very cutie board book for toddlers. My son is mixed race with multiple cultures. He is about 15% indigenous from three different nations, but with no living elders on that side of the family my husband and I are using books to teach him more about his background. I don't want this part of his heritage to be a footnote in his life. It's a simple book, but has good representation and my son enjoys reading it.

A beautiful book, filled with lovely illustrations of an Indigenous family, celebrating the simple things in life/their culture that fills their hearts with happiness. Even though it's a board book, I would share this one far and wide in classrooms of all ages. It would be a fantastic mentor text for students to create their own versions, and provides a way to see First Nations peoples as contemporary and honors their culture. Themes about appreciating the small moments in your life and the people who surround and love you provide a lesson worth talking about with students and children.
A fantastic #ownvoices selection, with both the author and illustrator members of First Nations tribes.

This is such a delightful picture book, with all the quiet moments that make us happy. Written especially for First Nation children, with pictures that reflect the culture, it is also in both English and in Plains Cree.

The pictures are wonderful, as picture books should be. The things that bring happiness include smelling bannock in the oven.

My heart fills

As well as dancing.

My heart fills

All in all, a wonderful collection of simple things that make one happy.

As it turns out, the small things in life are what make life worth living. This book is a great way to teach young children about finding joy in the small everyday things like baking, listening to stories, and drumming. The book lists many things that makes the author happy and ends by asking what makes the reader's heart fill with happiness, encouraging children to think of their own joys.

"My Heart Fills With Happiness" contains many beautiful illustrations of Cree people and belongs on every bookshelf.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
