Karen McManus sure loves tortured boys and crappy parents... Brynn and Tripp were very similiar to Bronwyn and Nate from One of Us is Lying, and the ending got a bit messy, but the murder story was gripping, the pace was fast, and as whole the book was really entertaining so I'm calling it a win.

Quick YA thriller. I enjoyed it even though I wouldn't say it was the most realistic story. It kept me interested, and I was fairly surprised by some of the twists and turns the story took. The ending felt slightly rushed and random with the big reveal on the last page. Overall I enjoyed it.

McManus writes a great YA thriller/mystery, and this one might be my new favorite. Adult thrillers can sometimes feel absurd, but with teen characters the miscommunication and misunderstandings feel way less unrealistic due to the nature of adolescence. The story had plenty of fleshed out characters and a few good twists.

My first book from these author even though I have her popular series on my shelf looking at me funny.

This gave me “AGGGTM” vibes and I loved it.
