Un poco más complicado de lo que debería pero un thriller más de Karen
Fácil de leer aunq al principio los flashbacks te dejaban un poco out

4.5 stars. Karen McManus does not miss! I quite liked the focus on only two characters, which definitely helped following along with the story. The attention to some of the darker sides of trauma was also well done. And the fact, that the ending didn't wrap up all perfectly and neat was an interesting touch. Really great! Already looking forward to more.

idk what rating to give this book because it was a quick, fun read that kept me invested and hooked, but it also felt kinda unoriginal?

the main characters felt like a revisited version of Bronwyn and Nate from OOUIL - her name is literally Brynn which could be short for Bronwyn, and the paralleles continue in Tripp’s relationship with his mum mirroring Nate’s (down to almost the same diner scene!!), Brynn’s relationship with her sister Ellie having the same vibes as Bronwyn’s and Maeve’s, the redhead family like Phoebe’s in OOUIN, etc.
I do have to say that the communication between them is so much better (after THAT scene at least), especially compared to YBTDOM, and probably the only satisfying thing about the end

i have to say that the characters were rly likable tho, even if they were kinda repetitive, their motivations and thoughts really easy to understand and sympathize with, making the story rly easy and quick to read, and i was rly a fan of the little romance that developed

and i absolutely LOVED the easter egg references to her other books, as well as the way Brynn and Tripp kept referencing each other’s words throughout the story

compared to her other books, the mystery is more mild and less insane ig, which i didn’t mind, exactly, since usually the chase scenes are v over the top, but maybe it led to me thinking that the ending leaves too many threads still tangled, and i missed the traditional kmcm epilogue, feeling the readers didn’t get the closure we deserved about what happens to a lot of the characters

not completely mind blowing, some of the resolutions felt a bit weak with not much background hints that would make the plot twists super satisfying, but overall a very enjoyable read with nice characters and plot, even if sometimes it felt kinda out of pocket - not my fave kmcm novel, but certainly not my least fave either, and i feel like i’ll reread it at some point for fun

emotional hopeful reflective sad medium-paced

While I love McManus's work for its twists and turns, I might have to reread this one to figure out what actually happened? I did love that the main story is a teen who moves back to her hometown and interns for a true crime show - which features cases previously covered in McManus's other novels. Seriously made my head spin, but I love the way she writes teen romance. I'm very interested to see if the main character in this one ends up involved with the Bayview Four in future books, or if this was more or less a one-off

mysterious

I really enjoyed this mystery, told through an intern pod caster, of a murder that occurred 4 years earlier. The characters were likable and the story flowed with ease. I’ve read this author before and her writing style speaks to me.

Definitely better than one of the other spin off books, although it is very much one of us is lying and the cousins merged together in terms of plot.
