Overall the story was decent for what it was, and I enjoyed it once I reached the end. I just couldn't get into it though while reading through. The most I could handle was about 20-30 pages at a time. It was very formulaic for a revenge/redemption arch Denzel Washington/Jason Statham style movie type story. That's just not really my thing. I was also taken out of the story by the immense amount of typos, missing words, or repeated lines. It appears as though it was not copy edited. The plot was predictable. The story had a very racist and misogynistic feel to it and the violence was a little over the top.

always appreciate s.a. cosby’s abilities to write about diverse, and often difficult, topics to address. his writing style is poignant and punchy. i’ve really enjoyed reading through his works, i just hate that i started with what i think is his best! i enjoyed this one more than blacktop wasteland though. really interesting story but often find myself struggling to get through it. ending was amazing.

I kept seeing this one all over the timeline in late summer, and I finally prioritized it. Two men seeking revenge for the murder of their sons. There’s violence, action, and reconciliation. It was a story that kept me wondering what would happen next for these two unlikely partners. I can’t wait to see how the screen adaptation holds up.

I don't normally like action-packed novels. But this was absolutely amazing
