I'm a wreck.
This was such a good book!!! Ike was a BEAST lol such a force! And Buddy Lee lmao he made a bomb and blew those assholes straight to hell lol I loved it!
Razorblade Tears by S. A. Crosby is a #mystery #thriller about Ike Randolph and Buddy Lee, an unlikely pair of ex-cons who share in the tragedy of having their gay sons murdered. Ike is a black man who has run a successful business since his release from prison 15 years ago. Buddy Lee is a white, alcoholic redneck living hand-to-mouth in a trailer park. They both rejected their sons in the past because of their sexuality, but they come together to avenge their deaths when it’s clear a hit was put on them. In my opinion…I’m a huge fan of the author, and if you’re looking for a black author for #blackhistorymonth, he’s an excellent choice. This book might as well be a screenplay, it’s so easy to watch in your mind. The plot is exciting and fast-paced, and the characters are well-developed and deep. The conflict has so many layers, with racism and homophobia playing a huge part. Personally, I pictured Samuel L. Jackson and Woody Harrelson playing the lead characters, and it made them even more vivid in my mind. This is a great read. I give it 5 ⭐️ #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #booksbooksbooks #book #books #booklover #booknerdforlife #bookrecommendations #bookrecs #bookrec #bookreview #bookaddict #read #readmorebooks #readmore #reading #readingtime

Did not like this as well as Blacktop Wasteland
Wow. Wow. This book hit me in a way I wasn’t ready for. The depth of the characters. The beauty of the writing. It is all there. Maybe one of the best books I have read in a while. Wow.
From the very first few pages, this book gives off a strange vibe.
Both fathers were not in a good relationship with their sons, because it turned out they were gay. One was white, the other black. Both fathers are criminals and I guess are only capable of seeing failure in themselves and their parenting skills when their children feel different like that. One actually belted his kid when he saw him with another boy at a younger age, the other I honestly don't know any more because I didn't manage to keep both dads separate in my mind. Both were horrible to their gay kids, are homophobe and it's VERY clear to see the relationships between fathers and sons were broken when they were alive, and only in death did the boys gain any value once more. Too little too late, an excuse to go hurt some people is what it is. Clearly.
The characterisation is VERY cliché; bad grammar in speech, accents, wokeness, lectures, etc. This is just really not the type of book for me. I felt nothing but anger at the dislike/hate that the fathers had for their gay sons in the beginning, and the way they used this as an excuse to go punch some people. At least one of them admitted to themselves that it's weird to mourn someone in death when you didn't care for them when they were alive. Congrats for figuring that out, I guess.
Happy Reading!

It was a good story. The growth in the characters was interesting to watch. Buddy Lee was likable even though he was supposed to be a POS. The slang was well done because that is exactly how those characters would speak and those are things I have heard people say that the characters are modeled after. I listened to it on audio and there were parts where I was easily distracted and not paying attention. The story might have been better for me if I had read it. I am satisfied with the conclusion but honestly I am glad it is done so I can read another book.
Graphic: Addiction, Alcoholism, Death, Hate crime, Homophobia, Racial slurs, Racism, Transphobia, Violence, Kidnapping, Grief, Murder, Outing
My new favorite book. Elements of buddy cop, mystery, thriller, and family drama.
