pk1's review against another edition

DID NOT FINISH

I made it 114 pages and am calling it quits. So. Tedious. And all the children are annoying. I normally wouldn't DNF a book in a series, but it doesn't seem like it's adding anything to the overall story. I'm trying to truck along. I'm debating if I even want to read "Rainbow Valley" because I've heard it's also heavily focused on the children. I am looking forward to "Rilla at Ingelside," I've heard this is a good one. Unfortunately, the series has fallen off after the 3rd book. Sigh. Hoping "Rilla" doesn't disappoint.

I think this series has run its course by now. It kind of just feels like the same same every book, but a bit more boring every time. I did enjoy this series, but I really don't see how there are still another 3 books to go!!

“The first star is always a miracle.”

Anne of Ingleside is more about Ingleside than it is about Anne. This book reads like a series of short stories about the Blythe children and their adventures.

Unfortunately, I don't care about the Blythe children and their adventures aren't interesting.

The parts that I like, are about Anne, from a hilarious matchmaking attempt to an amusing obituary writing request which doesn't end up quite as expected.

The last story is my favourite part of Anne of Ingleside because I prefer Anne when she isn't being perfect and matronly. This story deals with the doubts that come with a long-term marriage and Anne's feelings of monotony and jealousy is realistic.

Once again, this book is a product of its time and there is also so much fat shaming.

It looks like the next two books are going to focus more on the Blythe children and I'm not sure how to feel about it.
