I read this a while ago and remember finding everything a bit hard to comprehend given such few pages to work with. 
I think I'd love to see a world like this but more fleshed out.

It does quite good as a standalone story though.

An enjoyable story. Fun to read. The Sisters and Brothers are defending the world against the Lurch, a messy foe. Garth Nix is becoming one of my favorite authors.
