IDK man I was so excited for this one but I just didn't get into it as I did with WEST SIDE LOVE STORY. I tried hard to love Catalina and it's not that I dislike her but the way she tried to control how Blanca should live her life and trying to force her to hold on to a promise they made when they were children? Not a fan. And I hate the "overheard part of a conversation and immediately flipped their shit without hearing out an explanation" trope I really do. And Patricio's whole thing like IDK I guess it's hard to live up to your parents' expectations but like it's hard for me to feel bad for characters when they're born with a silver spoon in their mouth and they've been handed everything they've ever wanted in life, ya know? Like oh no you're a nepo baby your life must be so hard please tell me how you actually struggle MORE than those who've had to fight to get to whether they are.

After 50+ days of trying to finish this book, I am calling it, at the halfway mark. I’d not have waited this long if it was not a NetGalley book that I needed to review, and as such I wanted to give it an honest shot.

I’m not sure what it is I don’t like about this book… But I just cannot get into it. I don’t like the main character… I find her arrogant and I’m not overly fond of the male lead either. I’m finding the book flat and I simply don’t care how the story ends…And that’s usually a good sign to stop.

Additionally, the book has random words in Spanish tossed in that I don’t understand and have to look up or glean from context, which is not adding to my reading experience.

Life is too short to spend reading something I am not enjoying.

DNF at 100 page in. Should have re-read my review of book #1 in the series, so I wouldn't have spent time trying to get into this one. Both have the same issues of lack of plot/forward momentum, and so much telling rather than showing. Just not for me...
