informative reflective slow-paced

The work is clearly a labor of love by the author, but it ultimately comes across as a whitewashed biography of a talented yet troubled musician.

While this biography offered a lot of information, it provided very little insight into the life of Chris Cornell. In the end, although I learned much about Chris Cornell the musician, I didn't gain any understanding of Chris Cornell the human being. This might be because the author lacked the courage to tackle the hard subjects of Cornell's struggles with alcoholism, addiction, and depression, or because the author couldn't get the people who actually knew Cornell to talk to him (possibly due to the legal issues mentioned in the introduction).
