Sigh. It's been awhile and I'm getting old--I'm going back to what feels like another life now. I remember vividly, sitting in my living room in the winter, reading this book shortly after finishing the first in the series. I know I loved it, and many of the characters were reoccuring, though a young boy pops up in this one. It seems to me he got to me a little, but it's hard to remember. I'll read up for a refresher and plump this up.

Reread since childhood

The world is completely immersive. It’s entrancing and so easy to get lost in. And like the first book, the concept is one of my favorite things I’ve read. I love following Meggie and Dustfinger and Mo and everyone.

The reason it’s not 5 is it does have the middle book feel. It’s a set up for a bigger plot rather than a plot itself. But it was still a great read if you like being in a world

A year has passed since being thrown into the story of Inkheart and Dustfinger, a character who was brought to life, wants nothing more than to return to his world. Finding a crooked storyteller he gets sent back. Trying to find him Meggie gets thrown back into the story but the story wants to evolve in ways that could threaten them all. More magic, more adventures, we get to learn more about the Inkworld and all of it's many characters. A really long book but the world building is great.

I loved 'Inkspell' so much, it was a fantastically written sequel to 'Inkheart'. The characters were just as good as I remembered them, and the new ones memorable and equally as appealing. The world-building for inside the book as well was just phenomenal, Funke has a real talent for creating a vision of what her creations look like! Also, the plot twist at the end made me cry. A lot. As soon as I realised what had happened I literally bawled like a baby, so well done for that. I was VERY attached to Dustfinger and that can only be a plus point for Funke!

If you read and enjoyed the first Inkheart book, this is worth reading as well.

Second in a series of three...and I will definitely be listening to the third. In this one, most of the major characters end up in Inkworld. They face many challanges and dangers, but somehow, still love things about this made-up world. I was in tears at the end, but I won't say if they were happy or sad tears. No spoilers.

I enjoyed this sequel so much more than I expected! I had no idea where the series was going after finishing Inkheart but the plot of Inkspell was so fun! I loved getting to learn more about the Inkworld and being able to experience it as readers. There were some new characters, some old characters, and overall so much growth in terms of the story line! The ending was very high stakes and made me eager to pick up the final installment of the trilogy!

Oh man, the rollercoaster of emotions that occured in the last few chapters followed by the cliffhanger..

I enjoyed this book, I think it is better than the first, and I hope the next one is even better.
