Ahhh! It’s so interesting to be reading and finishing series that have begun and ended within the timespan of my book blogging journey. YOU GUYS! I remember being beyond psyched for Matched by Ally Condie and enjoying it for the most part with a few reservations. THEN! I listened to the audiobook of Crossed and was sort of let down a little bit, but still wanted to finish the series. AND NOW IT IS OVER! And okay, there was a lot that I really liked about the conclusion, Reached and the audiobook, but also certain things that were kind of a total let down. AND OBVIOUSLY you know that you’re in for long winded explanations as to why I am of mixed feelings on Reached.

OMG it took me exactly one year to finish this book WTF :'D
The Matched trilogy isn't my favorite series – I've heard the good and the bad, but I decided to finish up the trilogy and come up with my own conclusions after seeing – more like reading – for myself. In Reached we not only get to read from Ky's and Cassia's POVs, but Xander's as well.
The final book in Ally Condie's Matched trilogy is perhaps my favorite out of the entire series – Ky, Cassia and Xander are trying to find a cure for the Plague (was that mentioned in Crossed?); Cassia finally makes a decision between the two, and even better, gaps are filled with any possible questions readers may have from prior books. Thus, reaching a satisfying conclusion to the series.
Reached started out a little slow – reading Xander's view got me through most of the rough patches in Part 1 since his side of the story tends to be more action packed as the Rising begins to go into power. Ky and Cassia are more focused trying to get to each other. No one tell my mom that Xander's view was the most interesting and that he's a medic – I'll get smacked upside the head (as in, "See? You find medics interesting. This is why you should go into the medical field." Not that I actually get a say in that). :p
I'm not too sure about Part 2. It's more of a bridge so as to avoid confusion in Part 3, which focuses on Cassia trying to get her memories back. Not only that, but we get some flashbacks to scenes from Matched and Crossed, only from a different view. The flashbacks aren't random though – they actually answer quite a few questions (thankfully).
The last 2 parts seems to tie the entire story and series with a nice giant bow on top. If anyone's wondering, I'm not too sure what to think of the entire series. The Matched trilogy isn't the worse, but it definitely isn't the best – perhaps it falls more closer to the worse section since I have trouble remembering a lot of what happens in the prior books. In other words, if you're interested in the series, I recommend you to read the first and second books before this one. Otherwise, you'll be completely lost (half the time I AM lost. In space).
But with the endings for Ky, Xander and Cassia, and all of my questions answered, I'm pretty satisfied. Although... I'm so confused between Leyna and Lainey. Or is it Laney? They sound so similar – even the spelling's almost the same. :/

In a story, you can turn to the front and begin again and everyone lives once more.

Meh. I think if I had read the series rather than listened to it, it would have been better.

I feel empty and quite sad to see one of my favorite series come to an end. When things are good, most of us wish that the end will never come. The end, my friends, has finally caught up to Ally Condie’s masterpiece that so many people have enjoyed, myself included. Am I sad? Yes. Am I happy to see how things ended for the characters I care so much about? Yes. They will live on in the memories and the pages they are printed on, but it will not be the same as reading about their present or future.
Many authors should take note. This is how you end a series. This is how you finalize things. There are many series-enders that have been quite awful indeed, but Reached is not one of those.
The Plot:
For the last time, we welcome Cassia, Xander, and Ky to the stage, who all have a POV in this novel. It was both refreshing and breathtaking to see things from each of their unique perspectives. The Matched series has always been a very emotional and riveting one, Reached is no exception. Melancholy seemed to be the one emotion (if you can call it an emotion) to really stand out. The whole time I was reading it I was thinking: this is the last time I’m going to see these places and feels these things along with the characters that made up the Matched series. A sense of panic—of course—then followed.
Reached delves right into the rebellion, facing it from a dangerous and political side rather than from right inside the fighting like most dystopian books do. It was encouraging to see that not all dystopian books can feel the same way.
The Plague has begun and death surrounds the characters as things begin to go downhill. Hopelessness and sadness weave its way into the plot as the story takes a darker turn. Reached has a way of making your gut twist with anxiety and anticipation.
Loved or not?
I once tried to read Reached right after I bought it back in 2012. It was unsuccessful and I put it back down, vowing to give it another try someday. It’s been six month now, finally picking it back up and I sorely regret I ever put it down in the first place. My love of dystopian is slowly beginning to come back thanks to Condie’s lyrical, magical, and wondrous writing that has so inspired me to write myself. It has built me up and kicked me down at every turn, and yet I stilled loved it.
I will never forget the Matched series—the way it made me feel so deeply for the characters and the amazing society of the Society—and I hope to see it become a movie someday soon.

Great ending to the good series...Xander made the right choice. Cassia did too.
Cute story line for ya readers. Easy read with a love triangle. Felt a little drawn out but I liked the ending none the less.
This is one of the first times ever that I felt relieved to finish a series... And it is the first dystopian series that I have disliked. In my opinion, the first book had slight potential but the next two books in the series failed to capitalize on if.
