You know what you get when you read the Sigma Force novels - Action Adventure with loveable characters, I'd argue that they'd also fill the "love able idiot" "found family" and "enemies to lovers" tropes if you're looking for something specific for a book bingo or something. It's Indiana Jones and Mission impossible with science and a smidge of Tom Clancy thrown in for good measure. These are not highbrow fiction if that's what you are looking for then you can turn away now. The thing I like about Sigma is that they are grounded enough in science/religion/folklore/medicine/military/tech stuff to feel like you can suspend your disbelief enough, and I don't know, I just couldn't do it with this one. I couldn't suspend the disbelief long enough to get into it and I kept picking everything apart. this is my 9th James Rollins novel, BUT, if this was my first or, one of the first I think I would've stopped the series entirely. (I probably also could have gone without the cannibals...although did anyone have a moral debate, because, yes cannibals, but they weren't bugging anyone, and Monk literally just send them all to their deaths like that was his call to make.)
