Mafia romance is so not my thing. Cheating is not my thing either, and yet, I devoured Beautiful + Dirty. This short bite defies description. Shae is on the trip of a lifetime, planned with her boyfriend, and he is being a whiney asshole and ruining everything. When he ignores her reminders about bringing his passport and can’t get on the train for a daytrip to Naples, Shae leaves him in Rome. Salvatore has spent the morning torturing someone to find out who is trying to kill him. When he finishes with that, he goes to his restaurant for an espresso. Shae walks in and the two of them are instantly in lust.

Beautiful + Dirty is very short and ends with Shae returning to her boyfriend and Salvatore to his wife. Kind of. But the story will continue and I will read it even though mafia romance isn’t my thing.

Content warning for cheating.
It could have been a lot more polished but for a romance novella this was fun. What is not fun is that this couple's sequel book doesn't even have a release date.

I never think cheating is okay, but I really liked the dynamic between the hero and heroine. I liked what they brought out in each other

Being a very short book meant it was fast paced and exciting. It was a good read but did feel more like reading fanfiction because of the length. It was a speedy and exciting read with a decent plot. The smut was well written.

The story had likeable characters who shared good humor. The main character, Shae, has a relatable way of communicating with the reader which was enjoyable enough to read and she has a good character arch through the story.

I found that it was quite detailed for a short book especially when it came to explaining to the environment around the characters.

I like that, even though the perspective changed per chapter, (after Shae meets Sal) it was made obvious on whose perspective the story was being told from within the first sentence. It was a clear change of perspective without doing something too obvious like putting the characters name as the title of the chapter.

I think you had to read the rest of the series to understand the epilogue but overall it was a decent story. It was a nice short read that I quickly enjoyed before diving into a more plot and character heavy series.

This is the perfect teaser to this series. It’s short and sweet… although the contents are far from sweet. In fact, for a novella it’s surprisingly steamy and I am so very invested in Shae and Salvatore’s romance so I think that I’ll binge read the series this time after reading this novella last year.
Honestly, I don’t know what more I can say other than Shae needs to dump her boyfriend and I need to know what happens next for this couple. I never thought I’d be one for a mafia romance but here we are.

The Tin Man meets the People Pleaser

I need more than this. I need all of KJ's work. It might only be < 80 pages, but so much was said and so much happened. While this book has two of the most maligned tropes in romance, they worked and usually always work for me. Shae and Sal had instant lustful connection and I totally support everything Shae did and will ever do.
