Another great installment in the Meg Langslow series. A game of extreme croquet goes "a-fowl" when Meg finds another dead body and a historical secret that has been long-buried. Can't wait to read the next in the series!

The victim's relation to the characters was more comical than alarming, and there was only the one murder. Cozy indeed.

Some suspense that was also cozy and eventually a laugh out loud without any silliness (or maybe a little silliness but nothing that made me cringe).

Wait, Rose Noir is Meg's age? I thought she was a grandmotherly age.

I LOVED the poison ivy intrigue and town history lore.

Did not guess the murderer. In fact I was kind of like "who is this person even?" But that is probably more because of my easy-going passive listen to this audiobook. Sometimes my brain overrules what I am providing it and with a print book I just re-read and re-read as many times as necessary. When this happens while listening my phone is not always in a convenient spot to replat a section. Having said that: this was a fantastic listen. I was sorry when it was over. It was a delight and never dragged.

The house suspense/mall plot was hilarious
Poison ivy might be my favorite reveal
Victim being an ex of Michael's
Fake photos of history
The duck pond being a key setting
The use of binoculars in the duck pond

Dad was used well. As was Spike. I always think Mother is underutilized, in this novel included.

I laughed out loud a few times and smiled too. Very enjoyable. Would re-read/re-listen to this one.

Second read through of the series; this one is still among my favorites although the motive for the murder was weak and the reveal of the killer very abrupt and not suspenseful at all.

This one got a little convoluted--there were so many suspects, and they didn't really narrow them down until the very very end. But still a good time.

This was a fun Meg Langslow cozy mystery! Meg is playing extreme croquet out in a cow pasture because this is what they do in Caerphilly, Virginia for fun. While she’s out there, unfortunately, she discovers a dead body, and after the police question everyone at the site and no one seems to know who the dead woman is, it eventually turns out she’s one of
Spoiler Michael’s exes.

Awkward.

This is where the story takes some interesting twists and turns. There are boxes and boxes of historical documents, a historical society up in arms, a strip mall that no one wants built nearby, and of course, the croquet game. But how does it all tie in together? As always, the quirky characters and zany situations are the fun of this book. I always enjoy reading Meg’s adventures and seeing what her family is up to next.
