i sobbed. i did. i really did. i then cried four times. if i think about it, i cry. this series/ book broke me. i’m never going to be the same. sounds dramatic, but it’s heart breaking. i need, NEED, a version where
finny lives. him and autumn get married, see how he reacts to her pregnancy, and how his relationship is with his daughter.
i’m not okay after this.

I was super excited to see that ‘If he had been with me’ had a sequel, and that it was the same story but written from  POVs. This was my first book I’ve read where the story was the same but the POVs were different and I loved it! You really got to see more of what Finny thought throughout the whole thing, along with seeing how Jack and Autumn grieved. The only reason I gave it a 4.5 is because I would’ve loved to have gotten a POV from Sylvie. I think that would have tied it up together nicely. Overall, amazing book!

Jesus. Nowlin does it again. I legit cried the whole book. I can't even describe how horrible and amazing this book is. The book is divided into three parts between Finn, Jack, and Autumn. This gives us two additional insights we didn't have in the previous book and the story extends beyond the first book. It was a tad hard to follow in the beginning as I made the mistake of not reading the first book again but I don't feel like i'm missing all that much as it goes on. The chapters are shot enough that I dont feel like it drags but long enough that it feels like every chapter is detailed. I won't spoil it but good lord every bit of this book was so sad I was crying from page 25 till the end. Thank you so much to Laura Nowlin for finishing this series even when you said it was over!

I never knew I needed a second book to If he had been with me. I loved this book it tackles the monster topic of grief. I felt like I had lost Finn with Autumn. Beautifully written.

Wonderful book if you are looking for time to spare. I found it good to read for conversation starters or to just ramble about.

This book is kinda hard to rate and review. Like I was very excited and had it preorder when I finished the first however it’s just different the first part is his perspective and then the middle is his best friends after the death and the the last part is autumn after the death. It was nice to see the story continue in some forums but it’s not a full story for anyone. I feel like a continue of story for each character for like more books would have been better. I also just felt the ending just like comes it almost felt unfinished like it was just over definitely no dramatic or even like ending I felt. This story definitely reflects on the grief and I found more depressing than the first one because of that but it made it feel more realistic so I did admire that.
