This absolutely gutted me, but in more ways than I imagined. I knew how Finnys story would go, but the very real description of grief, moving on, finding your place in the world, it felt so real. As much as I wish Finnys story was different, I love reading his thoughts. I love his observations, and his actions are all intentional. Jack felt like a kid who was dealing with adult feelings while trying to maintain his innocence. Autumn's voice matured so much from her original perspective.
This was a sequel I was nervous about. I'm so happy that this did more than I could've anticipated. This gave me more Finny, and discussed some really hard topics. It was done so well. I'm so sad to say goodbye to these characters, but I like where they ended up.

Graphic: Death and Grief
Moderate: Sexual assault, Suicidal thoughts, and Suicide attempt
